I’m an amateur photographer. I like going out and take photos with my camera, but that doesn’t mean that I’m very good at it. Still, I like to share them here.
Unless otherwise stated, all of my photos are public domain. Feel free to use them for anything you want, even for commercial purposes. Just don’t be a jerk and attempt to pass them as yours. If you do something cool with my photos then by all means please let me know. I’ll be happy to know that my stuff was useful to other people.
Now let’s be honest: many of my photos are crap, but I will post them anyway because they document events I attended or places I visited. Just don’t come complaining about the quality. I know that already. :-)
Currently I’m using a Nikon D7000 and an iPhone 4S. My favourite lens for the Nikon is a 50mm f/1.8 Nikkor prime. Some of the cameras I’ve used before are: a borrowed Sony MVC-1 (usedfloppy disks for storage!), a Kodak DC3800 (bought on my first trip to Japan), an Oympus Camedia C-4040, a Nikon D50, a Canon PowerShot G11, and several cell phone cameras.
Computer stuff I do
I’m a UNIX systems engineer. This means that I have fun working on really bigenterprise systems, especially on environments where lots (thousands) of users are accessing the servers simultaneously. This includes setting up networks, storage systems, servers and applications so they won’t choke when they’re under heavy load. This also means keeping the systems running in case of failures (redundancy/high availability) and being able to go back to business as usual if something really bad happens (disaster recovery).
The nice thing about it is that I really enjoy this, in the same way as the mechanics working for an F-1 team enjoy like kids let loose inside a toy store.
On my free time I enjoy developing web-based services.
