My little roommate
On January 27th 2025 Marie found this little cat on the street. She was extremely weak, barely able to walk, and half starved. We brought her home and gave her water, food, and a warm place to sleep. We thought she was blind because of how bad her eyes were, but that turned out not to be the case. The first few photos in this gallery are from those first few days, when we still didn't know whether she was going to survive or not. The day after bringing her home I took her to the vet to get her checked and see if she had a microchip (she doesn't). She ended up staying. She's a very polite girl, and she stays most of the time sleeping inside a cardboard box in the living room, even though we bought her a couple of big cages and a cat tower, and she's free to go anywhere she wants in the house. In the mornings she enjoys going out to the garden for a while, but she doesn't stay there a lot, probably because it's quite hot. Also, she's scared of the engine noises from cars and motorbikes that drive in front of the house. The name "Dekopon" comes from a variety of orange popular in Japan.
